There are few things more precious than good friends, good food and a spirit of celebration. Last weekend, I got to enjoy just that at a dear friend's baby "sprinkle" for her soon-to-arrive baby boy #2. I must have had her celebrations on my mind because I realized I had worn a baby blue chambray shirt and baby blue nails to match! (Even my new Jordans have baby blue on them!)
I recently realized how wonderful dresses are in the summer. You can throw one on without much thought and you have an outfit! I recently acquired this dress at H&M. (You will never guess how much I found it for. $7!) I love the floral print and the fit and it has quickly become a staple in my wardrobe - the type of dress I can wear on its own, with a jacket, a cardigan or even a sweater. It will definitely transition well into fall/winter with a pair of tights and maybe a leather jacket.
Shirt: Madewell, Dress: H&M, Shoes: Jordans (birthday gift from the brother!)
When Y & I were house hunting and we stepped out onto what is now our (still strange to say even after over a year of home ownership) deck and looked out onto what is now our backyard, I'm pretty sure we both started to dream up all the things we would hope to do in our backyard: lounge on the deck with coffee and a good book, BBQs, grow our own vegetables in a garden.
This past weekend, we welcomed four of our young friends over for a camp out in our backyard. We called it Camp Ko and Y & I were the camp counselors, they declared.
The evening consisted of:
One setting up the tent
Two Dinner
Three Various entertainment - a round of cornhole, scavenger hunt in the park, movie screening of Kung Fu Panda in the tent, bonfire with s'mores.
Twas an eventful weekend! Thank you to the husband for always making everything so fun!
Last Thursday night, Y & I decided to head to a local park to go for a walk after he came home from work. We discovered there was a food truck rally being held at that very park so we put the walk on hold (for just a little while) while we enjoyed some delicious food truck fare. It's a glorious thing: food trucks with their various designs and colors, lined up in single file, calling out to you to come and pay a visit and discover the many treasures they hold.
This tank top may be my favorite article of clothing currently. I wear it more often than I would care to admit. Its soft fabric and comfy fit make it perfect for hot summer days and I love it all the more because I found it for $5! Steal!)The loose tank and drawstring pants were perfect for indulging myself. I had two lobster rolls. Yes, two. And I have no regrets.
Summer is quickly coming to an end. It's a bittersweet thing. Though I am sad carefree, work-free, lazy summer days will be no more, I look forward to ushering in fall with its sweater weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and Sunday Night Football.
I went back into work for a day this week. And though the never-ending list of to-do's was a bit overwhelming I am glad I got some of them crossed off.
This weekend, I will be enjoying snuggles with my pets, breakfast at home, camping out in our backyard (yup!) and a baby "sprinkle". I hope you have a spectacular weekend!
Enjoy double the photos today - since I missed last week's Friday Favorites. Warning: there are a lot of food photos.
Y & I bought a huge box of these delicious grapes so we've been snacking on these sapphire jewels nonstop.
